KARANGASEM , mybalinews.com – A South Korean man, Kyung Dam Oh, has reportedly missing when climbing Mount Agung in Karangasem Regency, Bali.
First information was received on Thursday (2/1) at 11.45 a.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA) from the South Korean Consulate in Bali.
“The information is that the South Korean man had contacted his friend in South Korea at 9 a.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA) on Wednesday (1/1). He told his friend thar he was at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level,” said Denpasar Search and Rescue Office head , I Nyoman Sidakarya on Thursday (2/1).

After checking the location, his rental motorbike was found parked at the Pasar Agung Temple. At around 1.20 p.m Central Indonesia Time (WITA), 23 local guides had started the searching from the Agung Selat Market route, and 4 others had started the search from the Agung Bebandem Market route.
“So, we divided this guide team into 2 team, considering that there were no eyewitnesses who saw the foreigner when he was going to climb,” he added.
Sidakarya also revealed that the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office will continue to dig up information with the consulate, so that at least there are directions for the search by the joint search and rescue team.
At 1.30 p.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA), personnel from the Karangasem Search and Rescue Post have also join the operation.
At 1.45 p.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA), 10 personnels from the joint Search and Rescue team followed and started climbing from Agung Sebudi Market, consisting of 5 people from the Karangasem Search and Rescue Post, 3 local guides and 2 people from the Karangasem Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD Karangasem).
