Merumatta Coast Trail Returns to Lombok, Targets 800 Runners

LOMBOK, mybalinews.com – Known as the “Beautiful Island of Lombok,” Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) has captivated tourists with its stunning beaches, especially the pristine shores of Senggigi.

Merumatta Senggigi Lombok is set to host another international trail running event on Sunday, February 2, 2025. With four categories to choose from—8km, 15km, 25km, and Ultra 50km—runners will have the opportunity to experience the island’s diverse terrain.

The Merumatta Coast Trail invites participants to run along the scenic Senggigi beach, navigating a course that combines flat sandy beaches, rocky cliffs, and challenging uphill climbs to the peaks of Bukit Batu Penyu (527m), Bukit Rajengkunyi (440m), and Bukit Loco (500m).

As a season-opening event, MCT provides runners with an opportunity to earn qualifying points for future trail races. Moreover, the event fosters a sense of community, inviting both seasoned trail runners and road runners alike to participate.

The 8km category offers a more accessible option for those new to trail running.

With its inclusive and sustainable approach, MCT has become a popular event, attracting runners from all over the world.

In 2024, over 500 participants from 23 countries joined the race. For 2025, organizers aim to welcome 800 participants from both Indonesia and abroad. (mybalinews/RLS/ANG)
