Three British face death penalty for smuggling 1 kg cocaine into Bali

DENPASAR, mybalinews.com – Three British could face death penalty after allegedly trying to smuggle almost 1 kilogram cocaine into Bali. The three UK national have now being detained at the Bali Police Detention Center.

The three British are identified as JCC, LES, and PAF. The three were arrested in two separate locations.

Bali Police’s narcotic director Adj. Sr. Comr. Ponco Indriyo said in the press conference on Friday (7/2) that the smuggling attempt have been thwarted by the airport custom officer on Feb 1 at 8 p.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA).

On the day, the custom officer feel suspicious to a British couple JCC (37 years old) and LES (39 years old) upon their arrival in I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport from Doha, Qatar.

The custom officer decided to conduct X ray into the couple’s luggage.

Based on x-ray, the custom officer found 10 packed of cocaine weighing total 637,12 grams in grey suitcase owned by JCC. Each pack written “Angle Delight”

Meanwhile, from LES’s grey suitcase, custom officer found 4 pack of cocaine weighing total 443,10 grams. Each pack also written “Angle Delight”

Following the discovery, Jonathan and Lisa were taken to the Airport Custom Office.

Custom officer immediately reported the discovery to the Bali Police. Bali Police investigators following up the case by conduct further investigation.

In the control delivery operation, police caught another British, PA who allegedly the receiveof the drugs in Badung area.

Bali have detained three British. They are JC , LE, and PA. All of them are British,”said Ponco Indriyani.

Ponco said that both JCC and LES have been arrested at the airport upon their arrival in the airport.

“They bring the copcaine from UK into Bali, The cocaine will be sold in Bali. The one who receive it in Bali, has also been arrested.” Ponco said.

“The total 994.56 gram netto of cocaine,”he added.

If found guilty, the three British could face death penalty. The three British is now facing a maximum death sentence as police will charge them with multiple Indonesian drugs law. The article consist of article 113 subsection 2 on drugs smuggling, article 114 subsection 2 on drugs trafficking, and article 112 subsection 2 on drugs procession. (mybalinews.com/ERV)
