Massive narcotic raid targets clubs, villas in Canggu

DENPASAR, mybalinews.com – A massive narcotic raid has been conducted jointly by Bali’s National Narcotic Agency (BNNP) and other institutions ahead of Christmas and New Year celebration.

The joint operation was held by the the Bali Province National Narcotics Agency (BNNP), with several related institution including the Bali Police Propam Bid Provos, the Bali Police, the IX Udayana Military Police, and the Bali Provincial Public Order Police (Satpol PP)

“This joint operation is not to scare or disturb the comfort of visitors or tourists. This activity is solely a form of supervision of drug abuse and illicit trafficking,” said the head of the BNN Bali, Brig. Gen. Rudy Ahmad Sudrajat, in a statement on Sunday (22/12).

The operation was targetting night club and villas in Canggu area, North Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali. The area had previously been mapped by the Agency’s intelligence team based on tip off from the community.

From the operations in some clubs and villas, 5 people has been found positive for narcotics K2, benzo and THC, meanwhile one person being positive for benzo.

A joint operation was also carried out at one of the villas in the Canggu area, Badung. The joint team found an alleged sex party being held by dozens of foreign nationals at villa.

Due to this incident, the team havr conducted a search involving K9 or sniffer dogs and random urine tests. The test found that 8 foreigners have been proven positive narcotics.

“In addition, during the search, suspected narcotics were also found in a clip containing white powder, a package of brown powder and a package of dry leaves suspected of being marijuana,” he added.

Two foreignere, out of 8 foreign nationals who tested positive, were arrested for further investigation. The event manager and 1 foreign national who tested positive for THC and the others are still being investigated and will later be conveyed to the media.

“Based on these results, the suspects and evidence suspected of being narcotics were taken to the Bali Provincial BNN Office for further processing, whether they were involved in narcotics crimes or oy drug users,” he said.

“Hopefully through this operation, entertainment venue managers and villa owners as well as local village officials can protect their environment from the illicit circulation of narcotics. So that the community can be protected and saved from the threat of narcotics,” he said.
