
KARANGASEM, mybalinews.com – The Bali Provincial Forestry and Environment Agency has urged all resident and tourist visiting Bali not to hiking Mount Agung during the extreme weather.
This is based on reports from various parties regarding increased safety risks due to heavy rain and storms in the peak area of Mount Agung’s crater.
The government has issued a Circular Letter of the Acting Head of the Bali Provincial Forestry and Environment Service Number B.24.500.4.1/95/UPTD.KPHBT/DKLH of 2025 concerning Prevention of the Risk of Climbing Mount Agung During Extreme Weather Conditionsn on Friday (10/1).

Acting Head of the Bali Provincial Forestry and Environment Agency I Made Rentin urged to avoid climbing during extreme weather conditions. “Climbers are advised not to climb Mount Agung during bad weather, such as heavy rain, storms, or other potential extreme weather that can endanger safety,” Rentin explained.
Rentin added that climbers are required to use a local guide. “Climbers who still choose to climb are required to use the services of a local guide who has sufficient experience and knowledge regarding the climbing route and environmental conditions of Mount Agung,” he added.
Applicable rules
Climbers are also asked to comply with all applicable rules and follow the directions of officers at the climbing post to ensure safety during the trip. “The latest information regarding weather conditions from BMKG must be considered. Socialization regarding potential risks to the community and climbers is also a priority to minimize unwanted incidents,” reads the last point.

Rentin said that this circular was made as an effort to maintain the safety of climbers and the sustainability of the Mount Agung environment. “We hope that all relevant parties can support and implement this appeal with full responsibility,” he said.
