BADUNG, mybalinews.com – I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has recorded a strong performance in the first quarter of 2025.
Between January and March, the Bali airport served a total of 5,208,342 passengers and recorded 32,669 aircraft movements.
This figure marks a 0.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024, when the airport served 5,182,838 passengers with 33,265 aircraft movements.
Of the 5.2 million passengers served, 3,295,693 were international travelers, while 1,912,649 were domestic. The airport also recorded 18,489 international aircraft movements and 14,180 domestic movements during the same period.

Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, expressed that the increase in passengers further motivates the management to continuously provide excellent service.
“This growth is proof that Bali remains a top destination for both domestic and international tourists. We are committed to maintaining high-quality service at the airport to support the continued growth of the tourism sector in Bali,” he said.
He added that several holidays in the first quarter—such as New Year 2025, Lunar New Year, Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and Nyepi—contributed to the surge in passenger traffic.
“During those periods, we held thematic events and decorated the airport according to the season to enhance the holiday atmosphere for travelers. We believe these festive moments were key drivers behind the increase in passenger numbers,” Syaugi continued.
During the first quarter of 2025, three new flight routes were launched at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport: Perth (Trans Nusa), Darwin (Indonesia AirAsia), and Jeddah (Saudia Airlines), marking the airline’s first operation in Bali.
As of March 2025, the airport serves 62 routes to 20 countries, including 23 domestic routes operated by 12 airlines and 39 international routes operated by 44 airlines.
Among domestic routes, Jakarta (CGK) was the busiest, serving 940,763 passengers, followed by Surabaya (289,143 passengers) and Makassar (105,985 passengers). On the international side, Singapore remained the top route with 578,820 passengers, followed by Kuala Lumpur (378,068) and Melbourne (256,919).
According to data from the Ngurah Rai Class I Immigration Office, Australian nationals accounted for the highest number of foreign tourist arrivals in Bali, totaling 344,639 visitors. They were followed by travelers from China (136,210) and India (120,887).
“This positive performance in Q1 2025 is a promising start for the growth of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. We continue to coordinate and collaborate with stakeholders to expand Bali’s connectivity both domestically and internationally, aiming for even better airport operations throughout the year,” said Syaugi.
