BADUNG, mybalinews.com – Ngurah Rai Customs officers successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotics at the International Arrival Terminal of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, on Tuesday (25/3)
During the operation, officers seized evidence in the form of a white powder weighing 323.76 grams (gross), which was wrapped in tape and a condom. After laboratory testing, the powder was confirmed to be a type of cocaine.
The smuggling drugs method used was vaginal insertion, where the narcotics were concealed in the genital area of a female passenger identified as GE, a 46-year-old hairdresser from Argentina.

The case was uncovered following intelligence analysis and surveillance of passengers on Emirates flight EK368 from Dubai to Denpasar. GE, who arrived at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport on March 25, 2025, at around 6 PM local time, was directed to a special inspection lane. After a thorough inspection of her luggage and a body search, officers found the narcotics hidden in her genital area.
Further information and analysis revealed indications of the involvement of another party in the smuggling attempt. GE was strongly suspected of meeting someone in Bali, who was believed to be the recipient of the drugs.
Acting on this information, a joint team from Ngurah Rai Customs and the Bali Provincial Narcotics Agency (BNNP) conducted a follow-up operation to uncover the drug network.
Based on the investigation, GE confessed to Customs officers that she came to Bali alone to deliver the drug package she obtained from Mexico and was promised a reward of 3,000 USD.
“At this time, the evidence and the Argentine citizen have been handed over to Bali National Narcotic Agency (BNNP Bali),” said Bowo Pramoedito, spokesperson for Ngurah Rai Customs.
Ngurah Rai Customs remains committed to protecting the people of Indonesia from the threat of narcotic smuggling by strengthening surveillance at the country’s entry points and enhancing cooperation with various related agencies.(mybalinews/ERV)
