DENPASAR, mybalinews.com – To mark International Day of Education, Australia’s Consul-General in Bali Jo Stevens visited on Friday the Bali WISE educational skills centre. Stevens meet the student of Bali WISE.
The Bali WISE program, run by the R.O.L.E. Foundation, aims to empower marginalised women through skills education and develop sustainable communities in Indonesia. The Australian Consulate-General in Bali has supported the R.O.L.E Foundation and the Bali WISE program through its Direct Aid Program (DAP).
DAP is a small grants program, funded by the Australian Government, that supports local community efforts towards poverty reduction and sustainable development.

During the visit, Consul-General Stevens toured the centre, accompanied by the R.O.L.E. Foundation’s chief operating officer Handoko Rama, and head of education Juliana Sinta.
The Consul-General met with Bali WISE students who had just begun their skills training. Together, they discussed the importance of education in empowering young women like themselves and shared their stories.
“It is wonderful to meet so many inspiring young women today. I hope that what you learn here, and the work experience you will gain, will help you shape your future with confidence,” Steven said in front of students.
The Consul-General also highlighted Indonesia and Australia’s close relationship, especially in the education sector. “Our cooperation spans many sectors, but education and people-to-people links have always been at the heart of the partnership between our two countries,” she said.
