Two flights from Australia into Bali diverted due to bad weather

BADUNG, Mybalinews.com – Two international flight from Australia have been diverted due to a bad weather on Saturday.

The two international flight that are disrupted by the bad weather that occured in Bali on Saturday are Malindo Air flight enroute Melbourne-Bali and Air Asia flight enroute Perth-Bali.

The Malindo Air flight was diverted to Surabaya. Meanwhile Air Asia flight was diverted to Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara .

General Manager I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, said that the heavy rain and strong wind have caused several flights to and from Bali have been disrupted. Beside two flights from Australia, at least five domestic have also been diverted.

“Five domestic flight and two international flights were diverted to other airport following heavy rain with strong winds occurred around the airport,” Ahmad said.

Among five domestic flights diverted are two Lion Air flight enroute Semarang-Bali and Yogyakarta-Bali that has been diverted to Surabaya.

Meanwhile three other flights were diverted to Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, including Batik Air flight enroute Surabaya-Bali, Super Air Jet flight enroute Surabaya-Bali, and Lion Air flight enroute Balikpapan-Bali.

“Divert is a safety procedure in aviation. This can be done considering the intensity of heavy rain which results in minimal visibility. Divert can be done when bad weather occurs,” Ahmad Syaugi emphasized.

At least 10 domestic flight and 4 international flights delayed for around 60 to 120 minutes from the schedule.

“With all relevant stakeholders, we anticipate current weather conditions by continue to coordinate and update information,” he emphasize. (mybalinews/ERV )
