DENPASAR, mybalinews.com – The Bali Police have implemented traffic engineering to anticipate congestion during the Christmas and New Year holiday season in several areas in Badung Regency and Denpasar City, Bali.
Bali Police Spokesperson Sr. Comr. Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, said that the traffic engineering is conducted to anticipate congestion in the Denpasar and Badung areas during the holiday season.
“The Bali Police together with the Denpasar Police and Badung Police are deploying personnel who will later be spread across several areas where congestion often occurs to reduce density,” said Jansen said on Tuesday (24/12).

The Bali Police have also deployed at least 191 personnel starting from December 20, 2025 to January 3, 2025. Aside from places of worship, police also anticipating congestion in tourist attractions that often occurs at points that are considered vulnerable and often experience congestion, especially around the toll road towards the airport or the Bali Mandara Toll Road and in the area of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali International Airport, the Canggu area, Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) and in the Kuta area.
“To anticipate congestion on the toll road towards the airport, congestion in the area of Ngurah Rai Bali International Airport and airport access contingencies when there is high density during Christmas and New Year 2025, namely by carrying out traffic engineering,” he added.
Jansen also urged to the Bali residents to avoid areas that are considered prone to congestion.
“If there is a problem around the toll road towards the airport, the public is advised to follow the directions of the officers on duty,” he said.
Here’s the detail traffic engineering that is implemented during the Christmas and New Year holiday season:
Alternative 1 :
1. Diversion of traffic flow at the Tahura intersection, in front of the Karangasem Temple, diverted to the northern underpass of the Forest Park or Tahura.
2. Traffic flow from I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport can be directed to the toll road and towards Nusa Dua via the alter or towards Dewa Ruci.
3. Closure of the median imp in Kelan Village and arrangements on the southern Tahura underpass.
4. Closure of all access to the entertainment world and restaurants on the bypass from the Tahura Roundabout heading north towards Dewa Ruci;
5. Priority for vehicles heading to the airport at the traffic light or TL Benoa Square to smooth the flow of traffic at the Tahura Roundabout so that it can move.
Alternative 2 :
1. Traffic diversion at the Sanggaran intersection towards the airport and Nusa Dua is directed towards the Bali Mandara toll road (delay system).
2. Traffic diversion at the Flores II intersection for vehicles heading to the airport and Denpasar is directed via the Bali Mandara Toll Road (delay system).
3. Traffic diversion at the Dewa Ruci intersection is directed towards the Sanggaran intersection and then towards the Bali Mandara Toll Road.
4. Closing the flow from the north on Jalan Raya Tuban, Kuta.
5. Closing all world access and restaurants along Jalan Raya Tuban.
6. Traffic diversion at the Benoa Intersection Square is directed back to Jalan Raya Jimbaran.
7. Closing access to the East Mertanadi TL.
Then, if there is a traffic jam in the Ngurah Rai International Airport area, Bali, the engineering carried out by the Bali Police is as follows:
1. Traffic flow at the Harris Intersection heading east is closed, so that vehicles exiting from the north exit gate will be directed to turn north towards Jalan Dewi Sartika.
2. All medians along the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport route are closed.
3. Traffic flow from the north at the Kuta Police Station is diverted west towards Jalan Kediri, Kuta.
4. Extend the Tuban Traffic Interval from the airport to the west.
5. Tahura Roundabout, traffic coming from Jalan Dewa Ruci (north) heading to the airport will be directed straight to south through the Tahura north underpass and turning at the Benoa Square Traffic Interchange, then at the Tahura Roundabout turn left towards the airport.
“Contingency of airport access when there is high density to anticipate delays in check-in or missing flights. So that the crew and passengers who are stuck in traffic can do alternative check-in through access 27, base ops, VIP, main gate north, loading dock through coordination with the ground handling to go to the aircraft transport,” Jansen added.
