SANUR, mybalinews.com – The Bali Tourism Board (BTB) and Swire Investments Indonesia has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marked the collaboration work to support medical tourism development in Bali.
The memorandum of Understanding was signed on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the Auditorium of Bali International Hospital (BIH), located in the Sanur Special Economic Zone (KEK).
Swire Investments Indonesia is part of the Swire Group, a global conglomerate with over 150 years experience in Asia. Known for its leadership in the aviation, property, and logistics sectors, Swire is now expanding its footprint into Indonesia’s healthcare sector through a strategic investment in Bali.
This signing marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration between key private sector and tourism stakeholders in Bali to develop a robust and integrated medical tourism ecosystem.
“Certainly, connecting the excellence of healthcare services with the strengths of tourism, wellness culture, and the global appeal of the Island of the Gods,” said Ida Bagus Partha Adnyana, Chairman of BTB.
The event, themed “Synergy for Health & Healing: Bali’s Medical Tourism Ecosystem,” was attended by representatives from the tourism, hospitality, health, wellness, transportation, and public institutions sectors. This event symbolized a shared commitment to making Bali a competitive and regionally competitive medical tourism destination.
Real Actions for Now
The Chairman of BTB emphasized the importance of concrete and collaborative steps in seizing the opportunities of the growing medical tourism sector.
“Medical tourism is not just a global trend, it is a real opportunity that unites us all. We can still learn from the success of other destinations like Penang and Bangkok,” he, familiarly known as Gus Agung, emphasized.
“From the moment a patient arrives in Bali, their journey involves hospitals, hotels, wellness centers, transportation, and the healing culture we pride ourselves on. We don’t need to wait for a national roadmap. We can start now, in Bali, by coordinating our strengths and expertise,” he said.
Swire Investments Indonesia’s representative, Ainsley Mann, President Director, emphasized Swire’s long-term commitment to building a sustainable ecosystem.
“It’s time we seriously build this ecosystem. connecting healthcare, tourism, wellness, and hospitality. Bali’s natural environment and healing culture offer us something truly unique,” Aisley Mann added
