
BULELENG, mybalinews.com – On the final day of the 2025 Buleleng Festival (Bulfest), the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, had the opportunity to attend and visit the MSME booth and the mask exhibition.
During the visit, Megawati emphasized the importance of registering all artistic, traditional, craft, and culinary treasures for patents or intellectual property rights (IPR).
“So that they are not claimed by others,” she said when meeting with craft producers who had booths at Bulfest 2025 on Saturday (August 23, 2025).

She reminded all attendees to immediately register their IPR. This is especially true in today’s world, where unilateral claims are possible given the rapid technological advances.
“It’s easy to claim. Just take a photo, sell it, and get a patent, and it’s yours, or your IPR,” Megawati said enthusiastically.
Responding to this encouragement, Buleleng Deputy Regent Gede Supriatna stated that his party would immediately take concrete steps. By instructing the Regional Research and Innovation Agency (BRIDA) to map every artistic treasure or woven fabric from Buleleng so that it can be submitted for IPR.
“I am very interested in several types of crafts from Buleleng. On that occasion, I emphasized the importance of immediately patenting these craft products through IPR,” explained Supriatna.
According to him, this step is crucial to protect local Buleleng products, including crafts, food, and paintings, from future claims by third parties. The Buleleng Regency Government (Pemkab) will soon map the region’s superior products that meet the requirements for intellectual property registration.
The Chairperson of the Bulfest 2025 Committee, who is also the Regional Secretary of Buleleng, Gede Suyasa, stated that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), including Buleleng culinary specialties, contemporary food products, and craft products, have received very high visitor numbers.
According to records from the Department of Trade, Industry, Cooperatives, and SMEs (Disdagprinkop UKM), during the six-day Bulfest event, In 2025, an economic turnover of IDR 3.3 billion was recorded. The average daily transaction was IDR 550 million.
“In fact, in the last three days, it reached IDR 640 million,” he said.
He also stated that all series of activities ran smoothly, starting with the main stage and four stages for traditional, classical, and modern art performances. The exhibition of masks and paintings about masks was also well-organized.
“Almost 300 visitors, especially students from various schools in Buleleng, visited each day,” said Suyasa.
Meanwhile, Buleleng Regent I Nyoman Sutjidra, at the closing of the 2025 Buleleng Festival, expressed his highest appreciation to all parties involved. Sutjidra acknowledged that the festival, now in its eighth year, has certainly seen improvements and refinements. However, on the other hand, it has not been able to meet the wishes of all elements of the community.
“We have done our utmost for the sake of our beloved Buleleng,” he said.
He also stated that the essence of the Buleleng Festival is not just an activity. It’s not just an economic event, but a cultural event that combines art, culture, education, and the social environment. This festival focuses on the integration of preservation, creativity, innovation, promotion, and branding in Buleleng. He also highlighted the surge in interest in MSMEs, culinary specialties, small traders, and millennials who use the festival as a platform to be creative and earn a living.
