DENPASAR, mybalinews.com – The Denpasar District Court has sentences today an Australian man Mohamed Rifai to 4 months prison term for assaulting security at popular beach club in Bali.

The sentence was lighter than 5 months prison term demanded by the prosecutor in the trial on Tuesday.

“The defendant has legally and convincingly found guilty on assault as regulate in article 351 subsection 1 and sentence the defendant to 4 months prison term minus the time he already serve,” the presiding judge
Anak Agung Made Aripathi said.

The judge has considered some aggravating and mitigating factor.

“The defendant act has cause the victim suffered injuries, lost his tooth and bleeding in his nose,” judge said.

The judge has also considered some mitigating factors, including that the defendant polite during the trial, the defendant admitted his act, feel regret and has promise to not commit the crime again and he has no criminal records.

The panel of judges also considering the peace agreement that has been made between the defendant and the victim.

Responding the sentence, Rifai decided to accept it and do not appeal.

With the sentence, he could walk free from Kerobokan prison in the middle of this June.

Rifai was arrested in February 2025 after a brawl that went viral on social media. From the brawl, as many as 8 security have also been arrested and facing the same charge. (Mybalinews/ERV)
