DENPASAR, mybalinews.com – Travel to Saudi Arabia is generally identical to the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages for Muslims.
But it turns out, there is another potential that is currently being targeted by Saudia Airlines which will soon open a new route from Bali to Jeddah.
“So for branding for Umrah services, we will definitely continue to serve. But we want to expand it again in line with the Saudi Arabian government’s policy to also invite tourists,” said Mr. Faisal Allah as Saudia Airlines Manager for Indonesia, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand, in a media gathering in Denpasar, Thursday (20/2/2025).

For the potential for Umrah travel, flights from Bali are expected to serve pilgrims from Makassar, Balikpapan and East Nusa Tenggara as well as other areas of Eastern Indonesia.
The cost is cheaper than if departing from Jakarta even though the journey is longer for 2 hours.
Meanwhile, for tourist travel, Saudia is eyeing the potential of European tourists or expatriates who already live in Bali.
Previously, the potential was already involved where Saudia passengers on the Jakarta-Jeddah route were always filled with European citizens.
The opening of this flight is also in line with the Saudi government’s policy which this year hopes there will be 30 million visitors to the country.
Saudia Airlines from Bali
The promotion was intensified through the Saudi Tourism Authority which also has an office in Jakarta. Various festivals will also be held in the country.
Meanwhile, Saudia Airlines will open a New Bali – Jeddah Bali Route which will start operating on March 31, 2025. This flight will use a Boeing Dreamliner 787 – 900 aircraft, with a capacity of 24 business class seats and 274 economy class seats.
This flight will operate with a frequency of three times a week, namely on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This strategic step is part of Saudia Airlines’ efforts to expand its global network, targeting the leisure traveler market share, considering that Bali is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.
Saudia, formerly known as Saudi Arabian Airlines, is the national airline of Saudi Arabia based in Jeddah. The airline was founded in 1945 and has grown into one of the largest airlines in the Middle East, serving more than 100 destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America.
In 2024, Saudia was named the “World’s Most Improved Airline” and was also recognized as number one for “Best Economy Class Catering” at the Skytrax World Airline Awards.
As a member of the SkyTeam alliance since May 29, 2012, Saudia has expanded its service coverage through partnerships with other airlines in the alliance.
Another advantage of this aircraft is the availability of a prayer room so that Muslim passengers can still perform the 5 daily prayers. In addition, the flight is also declared alcohol-free.
“It turns out that there are also enthusiasts from European passengers because they feel more comfortable when bringing children,” said Herry Setiawan, General Sales Agent Indonesia. (mybalinews/RFH)
