DENPASAR, mybalinews.com – The Bali Provincial Administration have prohibited accommodation providers, entertainment service providers, and tourist attractions from promoting their businesses using Nyepi Day branding.

“Accommodation providers, entertainment services, and tourist attractions are prohibited from promoting their businesses using Nyepi Day branding,” The Bali Provincial Administration Secretary Dewa Made Indra said in a statement on Wednesday (19/2).

Nyepi Day of silence is Balinese Hindu’s silent day that performed once a year on the new year of Saka Calendar. During the day, Balinese Hindus stop their activity for 24 four hours.

Hindus mark the day by abstaining from lighting fires, abstaining from work, abstaining from venturing outside the family compound and abstaining from enjoying entertainment.

The Nyepi day for this year will be occurred from Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 6 a.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA) until Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 6 a.m. WITA.

The Bali Provincial administration has also requested mobile service providers to disable cellular data during the Nyepi day.

Dewa Made Indra emphasized that during the Nyepi holiday, people are not allowed to travel, set off fireworks or firecrackers, use loudspeakers, make noise, or use lights or other equipment that could disrupt the tranquility and sanctity of Nyepi Day or public order.

“Traditional village leaders, Pecalang (traditional security officers), Bankamda, village or subdistrict officials, and security personnel at each place of worship play an essential role in ensuring a safe, calm, and orderly atmosphere during the Nyepi day in their respective areas,” said Dewa Made Indra.

He also emphasized that mobile service providers should turn off cellular data and television service providers should not broadcast their programs.

In relation to the upcoming Ramadan month of 1447 Hijri, Dewa Made Indra invited Muslims to perform the Tarawih prayers at the nearest mosque on foot or at home, without using loudspeakers, and to limit the use of lighting

“Through a spirit of togetherness, mutual respect, tolerance, and reverence for the sanctity and solemnity of religious holidays, we are confident that the implementation of Nyepi Day and the Ramadan month of 1447 H in Bali will go smoothly and strengthen interfaith brotherhood,” he said.

Additionally, the Bali Interfaith Harmony Forum (FKUB) and the Head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Office of Bali Province, along with the Bali Police Chief, 163/Wira Satya Military Resort Command, and the Acting Governor of Bali have issued a joint statement on February 11, 2025, regarding the implementation of Nyepi Day.

According to the statement, Hindus will observe the sacred Nyepi Day celebrations with solemnity and devotion. Transportation services, whether by land, sea, or air, will not be permitted to operate during the Nyepi Day .
