
BADUNG, mybalinews.com – Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Airport have recorded a positive performance throughout 2024.
The bali international airport have served at least 23.9 million passengers in 2024, a 12 percent increase compared to 21.4 million passengers in 2023.
General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Ahmad Syaugi Shahab stated that passenger and aircraft traffic in 2024 were the highest in the past three years.
“Our target for 2024 set to only 23.6 million passengers, and we exceeded that target, reaching 23.9 million passengers with an average of over 65,000 passengers arriving and departing daily,” said Syaugi.
He added that international route passengers were higher than domestic ones.

“Even compared to 2023, there was a surge in international passengers, which increased by 22%, totaling 14.1 million people. While in 2023, it was only 11.5 million. For domestic passengers, the total was 9.8 million, slightly lower than the previous period’s 9.9 million passengers,” he continued.
The highest number of international passengers passing through Bali Airport were those traveling to Singapore ( 2.7 million passengers) , followed by Kuala Lumpur (1.8 million passengers), and Perth (1 million passengers).
As for domestic routes, passengers traveling to Jakarta (Cengkareng) still dominated, with 4.8 million passengers, followed by Surabaya with 1.4 million, and Makassar with 522,000 passengers.
“During the 12 months, the highest number of passengers occurred in July and August, each serving 2.2 million passengers. These were peak seasons due to summer holidays in European and American countries, as well as school holidays in Indonesia,” he added.
Similar to passenger traffic, aircraft movements also saw a-4% increase, totaling 142,169 movements, compared to 136,508 movements in 2023. Of the total movements, international routes still dominated, with 72,583 movements, or 51% of the total aircraft movements, while the remaining 69,586 movements were for domestic flights.
The highest frequency of international flights was to Singapore with over 13,000 movements, followed by Kuala Lumpur with nearly 11,000 movements, and Perth with 7,000 movements.
As for domestic routes, the highest number of movements was to Jakarta with 30,000 movements, followed by Surabaya with 8,800 movements, and Lombok in third place with 4,000 movements during 2024.
In addition to the increase in passenger numbers and aircraft movements, positive performance was also reflected in the cargo production, which saw a significant surge of 57%.
Cargo services in 2023 amounted to 64,000 tons, while in 2024 it reached 100,000 tons, averaging 275 tons per day, both inbound and outbound.
The highest traffic for domestic cargo was to Jakarta, reaching 18,000 tons, and the highest international cargo traffic was on the Hong Kong route, with 7,700 tons.
“Throughout 2024, we indeed received many new routes. In total, there were 15 new routes, both domestic and international. This shows that Bali remains a potential market in the aviation industry, and our task as the management of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport is to orchestrate so that all services from all agencies and business partners run smoothly,” he explained.
