DENPASAR, mybalinews.com – The Bali Police are chasing the motorcycle taxi driver (ojek) that allegedly rape Chinese tourist on New Year eve.
Bali Police spokesperson, Sr. Coomr. Jansen Avitus Panjatan, said that the perpetrator is currently being pursued by the Bali Police’s special team of detectives for violent crimes (Jatanras unit).
“Based on the victim’s report and statement, the Jatanras Unit team is pursuing the perpetrator who is suspected to be an online motorcycle taxi driver,” said Panjaitan in a statement on Tuesday (7/1).
He explained that the victim was on vacation in Bali and staying at a villa in Mengwi District, Badung Regency, Bali.

On December 31, 2024, the victim and six of his friends celebrated New Year’s Eve of magic new year’s eve event at Utilis Warung, in Nyangnyang Beach, Uluwatu, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali.
After the event, on Wednesday (1/1) at around 1.20 a.m. Central Bali Time (WITA), the victim and six of his friends left the event, where four of his friends returned to their villa located in Ungasan, South Kuta District, Badung.
Meanwhile, the victim and two of his friends were still waiting for taxi driver, because the victim was staying at a different villa from his six friends.
“So the victim walked ahead while trying to find a vehicle or transportation to return to her place of stay at his villa in Mengwi,” he added.
The victim later saw a motorbike with a driver or perpetrator wearing a green jacket and helmet. However, the victim forgot what was written in the jacket. At that time, the driver dropped off two foreign passengers.
The perpetrator turned around and approached the victim and waved his hand. He offer the ojek service to the victim. As the victim saw that the motorcycle driver was friendly with the two foreign passengers earlier, , the victim finally agreed to get on the perpetrator’s motorbike.
When the victim got on the motorbike, the victim said that she lived in a villa in Mengwi. The perpetrator said okay before they left the place.
As there was no signal on the her mobile phone, the victim could not
know whether the driver’s direction was right for the victim’s villa. A few moments later, the victim felt that the driver was not heading towards the victim’s villa road.
However, the victim was taken to a dark downhill and uphill road with bushes around it. When on a flat road, the victim tried to contact her friend named Felife. However, the driver or perpetrator immediately stopped and snatched the victim’s mobile phone using his left hand.
The perpetrator’s motorbike stopped and the victim’s cellphone was throwed into the road. The perpetrator later showed his mobile phone screen, which written : “I want to have sex with you, don’t scream,”
The victim tried to get off the motorbike and the perpetrator also got off his motorbike. The victim tried to fight back by trying to release the perpetrator’s grip on the victim’s neck but couldn’t.
Then, the victim was afraid and turned her body until she fell to a sitting position and the perpetrator still choked the victim’s neck while dragging the victim into the bushes and carrying out the rape with force and physical violence.
As a result of the incident, the victim suffered several abrasions around the neck and a hoarse voice due to being strangled by the perpetrator, abrasions on both hands, the back and both legs of the victim and pain in the victim’s (genitals).
“This incident has really tarnished the image of Bali Tourism. Hopefully the perpetrator can be revealed soon,” said Panjaitan.
