Bali tourism driver holds rally to demand online taxi limitation

DENPASAR, mybalinews.com – Hundreds of tourism driver held a peaceful rally at the Bali Provincial Legislative Council Office in Denpasar, Monday (6/1).

The driver grouped into Bali Tourism Driver Struggle Forum conveyed six demands. One of the requests is restriction on the online taxi quota on the island of Bali.

The Chairman of the Bali Tourism Driver Struggle Forum, I Made Darmayasa, said that the demand was not only restriction over the number of online taxi driver operating in Bali. The forum also demanded the standardize tourism drivers from Bali.

“Taxi driver working in Bali should vehicles that registered in Bali and should hold identity card, that registered in Bali,” Darmayasa said.

The forum is also requested that vendors who cooperate with online taxi applications should be reorganized. He said that many of them have many violate the rules.

“And carry out standardization because many foreign drivers cannot speak English but become tourism drivers in Bali,” he added.

Darmayasa express their appreciation over the response given by the Bali Legislative Council. After discuss the demand with members of the Bali Legislative council , he said that the council member have shown political will to solve the problem faced by tourism driver.

Six Demands

“So there are six demands that we conveyed and have been accepted, now we are working for further consolidation,” said Darmayasa.

He said that the condition nowadays clearly detrimental to Bali tourism drivers.

“It is clearly very detrimental to us here in Bali, we are only carrying out our obligations but our rights are being robbed, Bali tourism is not okay,” he said.

The drivers are directly welcomes by the Chairman of the Bali Legislative Council, Dewa Made Mahayadnya, popularly known as Dewa Jack.

Dewa Jack said his commitment to positively respond the driver demand. He said that the council will ensure that Bali regulation on transportation service would be properly implemented. (mybalinews/KAD/ERV)
