High waves kill Australian man in Bali

TABANAN, mybalinews.com – An Australian man has reportedly died after he was swept by the high waves on Pasut Beach in Tibubiu Village, Tabanan Regency, Bali.

A 32-years old man Jacob Michael Henry Vennix, was swept by the wave when holidaying in Bali with his wife Kimberly Ann.

Tabanan Police spokesperson I Gusti Made Berata said the incident was happened on Monday (30/12) afternoon, at around 4 p.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA).

It was reportedly that the couple arrived at the beach at around 3.50 p.m and started to enjoy the beach. They were swimming near the the estuary area.

When enjoying the beach, Vennix suddenly swept by waves. The victim’s wife immediately asking for help.

Tabanan resident I Ketut Arsanayasa who witness the incident told police that he immediately tried to help the victim. He went to the sea by boat with a local fisherman I Made Suartika.

The high waves, unfortunately, had caused the evacuation more difficult. When going to chase the victim, the victim’s position hard to be reached by the boat because of the high wave and strong current.

The witnesses finally reached the victim and took the victim into the boat after several minutes. However, the boat suddenly flipped over by the waves. The victim then swept away again by the waves.

The victim finally can be evacuated after the wave taken the victim into the beach.

When found, the victim’s condition was unconscious. The victim was rushed into RSUD Tabanan public hospital, but was later pronounced dead. ( mybalinews/ERV)
