BADUNG, mybalinews.com – Tons of garbage have continue to arrive in the southern coast area of Bali, especially in the Kuta Beach area during the rain season.
Badung Environmental Agency recorded that at least 700 tons of garbage have been collected from beaches in southern part of Bali within the last one month.
“This means that waste continues to arrive. Not just plastic waste, all waste also continues (to arrive) because of the influence of the rain. Yes, it is still arriving, such as at Jimbaran Beach and Kuta,” said Made Gede Dwipayana, Coordinator of the Marine Waste Evacuation Detection of the agency on Monday (12/30) afternoon.

For almost a month, he said, around 700 tons of waste had been collected.
“If we calculate the mixture (of waste) that we have transported, what has been evacuated is around 700 tons,” he added.
The garbage was dominated by organic waste. Some other are plastics.
“Organic waste is almost 70 percent wood and tree branches, and the rest are plastic,” he explained.
The agency team has tried to transport all the waste on all beaches in the Badung Regency area, for the past two and three days because it is approaching New Year’s Eve which is likely to be a lot of activities on the beach, especially on Kuta Beach.
The garbage that has been stranded along the beach has been cleaned and piled up and is just being transported to be disposed of at the final disposal site (TPA). (mybalinews/KAD)
