56 cruise ships docked in Benoa Port throughout 2024

As a world tourism destination, Bali is not only visited by foreign tourist coming by plane. Many foreign tourists also visiting Bali on cruise ship.

Throughout 2024, there are at least 56 cruise ships docked at Benoa Port, in Denpasar, Bali. PT. Pelindo as the port operator recorded that all 56 cruise ships has taken 102,639 foreign tourist to visit Bali.

“There are a total of 56 cruise ships (throughout 2024) and a total passenger flow of 102,639 people,” Sub Regional Head of Pelindo for Bali Nusa Tenggara Area, Fariz Hariyoso, in a written statement on Monday (16/12).

Compared to the arrival of cruise ships at Benoa Port in 2023, Hariyoso said, it was higher in 2024. In 2023, there were 48 cruises with a passenger flow of 77,000 people.

“In 2024, in terms of the number of cruise ships and the number of passengers. In 2023 only 48 cruises, passenger flow 77 thousand,” he added.

On Friday (13/12), two cruise ships MV Azamara Pursuit and MV Noordam are docked at the same time at Benoa Port, Denpasar, Bali. The MV Azamara Pursuit with a ship weight of 30,277 GT (gross tons) and MV Noordam with a ship weight of 82,897 GT docked in Bali carrying passengers and crew totaling 3,500 people.

Fariz said, Benoa Port proved its readiness to become one of the leading tourist ports in Indonesia.

“The two ships are the 55th and 56th ships to dock at Benoa Port from January to (December) 2024,” he explained.

He said, Benoa Port will continue to strive to improve services and facilities in order to attract more ships to dock, especially cruises. This is also an effort to support Pelindo to the government to achieve the target of foreign tourist visits in 2024.

In addition to delivering tourists who will travel to Bali, the two cruises also exchange passengers and logistics from Bali to the next tourist destination.

“We hope that in the future, more cruises will dock at Benoa Port. We also provide art performances to welcome tourists to our port,” he said.
