DENPASAR, mybalinews.com – Australia’s Consul-General in Bali, Jo Stevens, has visited Ngurah Rai University and met with Rector Prof. Dr. Ni Putu Tirka Widanti and members of the university leadership team on Wednesday (22/1).
During the visit, Consul-General Stevens and the Rector discussed ongoing educational cooperation between the university in and Australian educational institutions.
Consul-General Stevens gave an open lecture to university students and staff about Australia and Indonesia’s close bilateral relationship, especially in Bali.

She spoke about Australia’s long-standing connections to Indonesia and highlighted the Consulate-General’s efforts to deepen people-to-people links between the two countries.
“Australia and Indonesia are close partners and friends. Our relationship goes beyond geography, with enduring ties across family, business, education, tourism and more,” said Stevens said.
Long History
“Australian universities have a long history of cooperation with Indonesian universities, with hundreds of academic and research partnerships that drive innovation and build capacity and capability in both countries. It’s great to be at Ngurah Rai University and hear about their close connections to Australia,” she added.
The lecture was followed by a presentation on Australia Awards scholarships. Australia has the longest-running foreign scholarships program in Indonesia, which has supported tens of thousands of Indonesians to study in Australia.
The prestigious Australia Awards Indonesia program offers a range of scholarships, including for PhDs, Masters, split-site Masters, and short courses. Applications for PhD and Masters study in Australia will open on 1 February 2025.
