DENPASAR, mybalinews.com- Antida Soundgarden successfully staged The Pianist, a two-night music program that brought together leading musicians and Bali’s rising talents.
The event took place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, and Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Antida Soundgarden, Jl. Waribang No.32, Kesiman, East Denpasar.
Each performance began at 7:00 p.m. WITA with free online reservations, limited to just 50 indoor seats, offering audiences an intimate concert experience.
The opening night (Sept. 20) featured performances by Erde Pradana (solo), Mick Baumeister (solo), Bebe Alamsyah (solo), Dodot Soemantri Atmodjo Trio featuring Emilian Charles Lalung, and concluded with the Widi Noor Trio.
The eclectic lineup wove together classical flourishes, jazz improvisation, and experimental soundscapes, creating an atmosphere both warm and full of surprises.
The second night (Sept. 21) carried equal weight, showcasing collaborations by Nita Aartsen & Amenangi Waworuntu, Koko Harsoe & Nara, and SAN Trio.
Their repertoire became a celebration of piano virtuosity and cross-instrument dialogue, with each musician’s distinct character shining through, captivating audiences until the very end.
The idea for The Pianist was born from a casual conversation at Antida Soundgarden between Anom Darsana and Dodot Soemantri Atmodjo. Dodot, who also runs a piano rental business, had long been aware of the wealth of young pianistic talent in Bali.
That meeting sparked the idea for a dedicated piano showcase—a new space for musicians to experiment, present fresh works, and expand their artistic horizons.
“I want Antida Soundgarden to be a place that nurtures and energizes young musicians and artists,” said Anom Darsana.
“We aim to provide them with world-class performance opportunities. With The Pianist, I believe we’ll see a new generation of performers and creators emerging. Let’s collaborate.”
The program is slated to return every two months, with each performance recorded and distributed online. In this way, The Pianist extends beyond the live stage, offering a sustainable platform to introduce Bali’s musicians to wider audiences.
The resounding success of its debut reinforced The Pianist as a stage for music, harmony, and intimacy.
Antida Soundgarden continues its mission as a safe, inclusive, and collaborative creative home, consistently hosting music, theater, workshops, poetry readings, film screenings, and other artistic endeavors throughout the year. (kanalbali/RLS)
