1.3 m people to leave Bali for ‘Idul Fitri exodus’

DENPASAR, mybalinews.com – The Bali Provincial Transportation Agendy predicts that the peak of the Mudik (Idul Fitri exodus) traffic will occur on March 27-28, 2025, or just before the Nyepi Day holiday, which falls on March 29, 2025, on the island of Bali.

“Our estimate of the surge in homecoming traffic out of Bali is based on the fact that Nyepi Day falls on March 29. Therefore, March 27 and 28 will definitely see the peak,” said I Putu Sutaryana, The head of the Traffic Division at the Agency when contacted on Monday (March 10).

According to data from the agency, passenger movements during the 2025 mudik season will take place at several entry points to Bali, including Gilimanuk Port, Padangbai Port, and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

The predicted number of passengers entering Bali during the 2025 Eid homecoming is 1,131,465. Meanwhile, the number of passengers leaving Bali is expected to reach 1,335,107, bringing the total number of people entering and exiting Bali during this period to approximately 2,466,572.

For vehicles, during the 2025 Eid homecoming, it is estimated that 146,000 vehicles will enter Bali, while 224,592 vehicles will exit, totaling 370,592 vehicles.

“These are only predictions. I am still awaiting instructions from the central government. But for now, this is our best estimate,” he added.

He also hopes that by March 28, 2025, traffic entering and exiting Bali will be well-managed. This is especially important since the ” Pengerupukan ceremony’, held the night before Nyepi Day, will take place on March 28.

“We hope that before March 28, no one will be leaving (or arriving in) Bali. This is because on the night of March 28, the pengerupukan ceremony will take place, along with the Ogoh-ogoh competitions in various regencies and cities, which could cause traffic delays. Additionally, on March 29, no one will be allowed to travel due to the observance of Nyepi Day,” he explained.

Regarding the personnel deployed to manage the traffic, coordination will take place transportation agencies in the regencies and cities of Bali, as well as with the Bali Police.

“There will be several key points, and the situation will not be much different from last year. We will focus on Gilimanuk Port, Padangbai Port, and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. We cannot work alone. We need to coordinate with the police and the local transportation offices,” he said.

Additionally, the agency will set up Mudik Posts at several locations across Bali. These posts will be opened from March 21 to April 11, 2025. ( mybalinews/KAD/ERV )
