UBUD, mybalinews.com – An Iranian musician released his newest single from Ubud Bali. Shervin Boloorian voices immigrant’s feeling due to wars and conflict.

The peaceful vibes that Iranian musician Shervin Boloorian experienced in Bali led him to choose the island as his creative home.

Most recently, he launched the single “This Is Your Time,” which voices the suffering and emotions of immigrants due to wars and conflicts occurring around the world.

“I invited Barasuara’s vocalist Asteriska to collaborate on this single,” he said during a press conference in Ubud on Tuesday (18/2).

The music for the song was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Kipper Eldridge, who previously worked on projects with renowned musician Sting. The lyrics were inspired by a peace poem by Manal Omar from Palestine and are dedicated to millions of refugee children worldwide.

This single will be the second release from ‘Unbroken’, Shervin’s album scheduled for release later this year. Earlier, he had released a single titled “Enjoy the Silence (All I Ever Wanted).”

immigrants and refugees

Regarding the background of the song, Shervin mentioned that the number of immigrants and refugees is increasing, and they are also becoming more oppressed. He feels deeply concerned because he himself was once in that position after being displaced from his home country due to the war between Iran and Iraq.

“I lost my parents and relatives and then had to live in a very foreign country,” he said.
He then moved to the UK in a very distressed state but eventually rose and found strength through music.

After working in the United States, he moved to Bali in 2018 to develop sound healing, a music genre that helps individuals relax and release trauma and anxiety caused by bad experiences they have gone through.

He chose Bali as his place to live due to the presence of people from various cultures who can live in harmony and peace, accepting one another.

During this process, he met Asteriska, who was studying sound healing, and they agreed to collaborate.

Asteriska, the vocalist of the band Barasuara, explained that the collaboration was aimed at developing music that is not only for entertainment but also beneficial for those who sing and listen to it.

“So this is not just for refugees, but also for those who feel alienated in their loneliness. So they can feel calmer and rise up to face many challenges,” she emphasized. (mybalinews/RFH)
