KARANGASEM, mybalinews.com – Three people died and six other suffered injuries and fractures in a tree collapse at Bungaya Billage, Bebandem, Karangasem, Bali on Sunday (9/2). The incident happened in cockfighting arena when the heavy rain and strong winds occurred.
“The incident occurred at around 1 p.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA) in cockfighting arena,” said Karangasem Police spokesperson First Inspector I Gede Sukadana.

At around 1 p.m, a sugar palm tree suddenly fall. At the time of the incident, there were several residents who took shelter under the tree and at the same time there was heavy rain accompanied by strong winds which caused the tree to fall, causing several residents to be injured and die.
Three people died
“The total number of victims is nine people. Three people died, two people were seriously injured, and four people were slightly injured,” he said.
Sukadana explained that the incident of the fallen tree was happen due to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds. The tree was also too old and starting to become fragile, which resulted in the incident.
“Currently, the victims are at Bali Med Hospital and Karangasem Regional Hospital, in order to receive further treatment,” he said.
