“According to our IHGMA colleagues, the average room occupancy is 80 to 90 percent. However, this year, many bookings were made last minute, right at the final moments. Usually, the day before Chinese New Year, it’s 60-70 percent, so the increase is around 10 to 20 percent,” Pemayun said on Tuesday (28/1).
Pemayun also mentioned that the number of tourist visits has increased by around 10 percent, with an average of 15,000 international and domestic passengers arriving in Bali.
In comparison, on regular days, the number of passengers arriving at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport is between 12,000 and 14,000.
“When compared to last year, the figures are almost the same. The number of international and domestic passengers is about 15,000 per day. Yes, it’s up about 10 percent as well,” he added.
However, he noted that this increase largely happened at the last minute, with many tourists arriving just three days before Chinese New Year.
“In relation to Chinese New Year, the increase is similar for domestic tourists. But in these last three days, bookings were made at the last minute, whereas normally, bookings are made well in advance,” he emphasized.
The agency urged tourists visiting Bali to remain mindful of safety, as the island is currently experiencing extreme weather conditions such as rain, and these conditions should be considered when visiting tourist destinations.
“Tourists should also adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) at their accommodation. This also applies to tourist destinations. any safety recommendations from the tourism sites must be followed,” he reminded. (mybalinews/KAD/ERV)
